The Shared Drift

A Legacy of Care

Long before it became a modern hub for coffee and commerce, the Evans School was a radical experiment in civic compassion. Built in 1904, the building emerged as a national pioneer in the late 1920s by establishing Denver’s first "Day School" for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and blind students. This addressed a critical community need; in an era before vaccines and antibiotics, childhood illnesses like meningitis and scarlet fever often resulted in permanent sensory loss.

At a time when children with specialized needs were typically sent away to distant institutions, the Evans School allowed them to stay home. It served as an anchor for the family unit, ensuring children remained visible, valued members of their community while receiving the care they required.

A Sensory-First Mission

Drift State was founded to continue this legacy of localized, compassionate care. While the classrooms have been repurposed, the soul of the space remains unchanged: it is a sanctuary for the nervous system.

We are a "sensory-first" practice. We understand that for many—whether navigating recovery, caregiving, or neurological illness—the modern world can feel overwhelmingly "loud." We provide a necessary bracket to reduce that noise. Through intentional soundscapes, temperature control, and gentle botanical hydrosols, we facilitate a descent into physical awareness and stillness.

The Shared Drift

To ensure the Evans School remains a space of true community support, Drift State offers a standing 15% monthly discount for those navigating life’s most difficult spaces and the caregivers whose labor sustains our city. To maintain the sustainability of this program, we offer two Equity sessions per week. Access the program, by entering code: EQUITY15. No documentation is required—we trust in the integrity of our clients.

Rose Andom Center

Drift State is a dedicated resource for the Rose Andom Center, providing survivors and advocates with a streamlined path to therapeutic touch. We provide a safe harbor for the physical processing of stored tension and the reclamation of physical agency.

Healing in Recovery

Massage therapy provides essential support during early sobriety, helping to stabilize the nervous system and re-establish a healthy connection to the body. We offer a trauma-informed environment for those in recovery to find physical relief, mental clarity, and to rebuild the routine of self-care.

Honoring Community Caregivers

We honor those whose daily work is rooted in compassion and community service. Our commitment to accessibility extends to employees of Denver based 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations, acknowledging the physical and emotional toll of mission-driven labor.
